Kate Wodenya Amenyikor, known in the media space as Yaa Wodenya, is a Youth and Community Development Enthusiast, a budding Journalist, and an emerging Public Relation Practitioner. She has spent many years in leadership roles and is currently a member of several executive teams where she contributes her skills and experiences to fulfill organizational goals. Her love for community development inspired her to start Boa Daakye Foundation, an organization that envisions a better future for all. Yaa has received several awards for her work, including Best Humanitarian (Child Education Category) of the Humanitarian Awards Ghana, Student Charity Organization of the Year by the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) Eminence Awards, Outstanding Tertiary Women’s Charity Organization of the Year by Ghana Tertiary Women’s Awards, and recognition by Mastercard Foundation on International Literacy Day, 2022. She is the co-founder of Women Emerging Africa (WoMerge), a girls/women empowerment organization focused on inspiring the world through its programs. She is also an alumni of Digital Opportunity Trust Street Team, a global youth-led movement of daring social innovators who are creating opportunities to transform their communities. Kate hopes that through the support of Empowered to Educate, she will be able to support 60 girls with basic school needs, build a learning lab for her community to ensure literacy development, and provide opportunities for girls to thrive. With an interest in establishing her own Public Relations firm, Kate is currently pursuing a degree in Public Relation at the Ghana Institute of Journalism as a MasterCard Foundation Scholar at CAMFED Ghana. She serves as the President of the Scholars community Chapter on her campus and is currently the National Vice-President for the MasterCard Foundation scholars’ community at CAMFED, Ghana.
